8 Days Wildbeast Migration – River Crossing (Jul – Oct)

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. Take time to relax after your journey and prepare for the adventure ahead.

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobab trees, open grasslands, and impressive elephant populations. Enjoy a game drive through the park, exploring habitats that attract elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and various predators.

The Tarangire River is an important water source, especially during the dry season, when wildlife gathers around the remaining water and feeding areas. After your game drive, continue to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Travel towards Serengeti National Park through the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you enter the Serengeti, the scenery opens into expansive grasslands that support a remarkable variety of wildlife.

Enjoy game viewing along the way, looking for wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, and predators. Your guide will help you understand the seasonal movement of wildlife and the different regions of the Serengeti ecosystem.

After breakfast, continue towards Northern Serengeti, an important region for the Great Wildebeest Migration during the July-to-October season. Enjoy game viewing along the route as you travel through changing landscapes and follow areas where migrating herds may be found.

Northern Serengeti is known for its rolling hills, open plains, river systems, and wildlife-rich habitats. The Mara River area attracts migrating wildebeest and zebras, creating opportunities to observe their remarkable seasonal movement.

Spend a full day exploring Northern Serengeti in search of the Great Wildebeest Migration. Your guide will follow available wildlife information and local knowledge to identify areas where the herds are likely to be found.

If conditions are suitable, you may have an opportunity to observe wildebeest gathering at the Mara River and potentially attempting a crossing. These moments can be dramatic, but the animals move according to their own natural behaviour, and a crossing cannot be guaranteed on a particular day.

Beyond the migration, enjoy opportunities to spot zebras, gazelles, elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and other wildlife. Return to your camp for dinner and another night in Northern Serengeti.

Enjoy further wildlife viewing before travelling back towards Central Serengeti. The journey provides another opportunity to explore different habitats and observe wildlife across the vast plains.

Central Serengeti is known for its year-round wildlife, including resident populations of lions, leopards, elephants, and other species. Enjoy a game drive along the way before arriving at your accommodation.

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in the Serengeti before travelling towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Take in the beautiful landscapes as you leave the plains and approach the cooler highlands.

Begin the day with a descent into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater’s grasslands, woodland, wetlands, and water sources support a remarkable range of wildlife.

Look for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and other animals. With luck, you may also spot the endangered black rhinoceros. After your crater experience, ascend from the crater and return to Arusha or the agreed airport for your onward journey.
