OVERVIEW

This affordable camping safari offers an immersive way to experience Tanzania’s northern safari circuit with guidance from Adhama Adventures. The itinerary focuses on high wildlife concentration areas while using simpler camping accommodation to keep the journey budget-friendly without compromising the safari experience.

The adventure includes a visit to Tarangire National Park, a park known for its year-round river that attracts large numbers of animals, especially during the dry season. Here, you may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, and predators gathering around the Tarangire River, making it one of the most rewarding wildlife viewing areas in northern Tanzania.

You will also explore Ngorongoro Crater, a unique volcanic caldera that supports a dense population of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and many other species living within a self-contained ecosystem. The crater is widely regarded as one of the best places in Africa to observe wildlife in a short time.

The journey continues to Lake Eyasi, where you can experience the cultural traditions of local communities and explore the surrounding landscapes.

This safari is ideal for travelers looking for a cost-effective yet rich wildlife and cultural experience in Tanzania’s most iconic destinations.

Tour Plan

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Adhama Adventures and transferred to your accommodation in the city.

You will be taken to Africa Safari Lodge Arusha, where you can relax after your journey and settle into your surroundings. The rest of the day is free for you to unwind, enjoy the lodge’s amenities, and prepare for the exciting safari adventure ahead.

Overnight stay at the lodge.

You will be picked up at 8:00 AM from your hotel in Arusha by your guide from Adhama Adventures and begin your journey toward Tarangire National Park. The drive takes you through the scenic Maasai Steppe via Makuyuni Junction, offering views of open landscapes and local villages along the way.

Upon arrival, you will enjoy a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park, a destination renowned for having one of the largest elephant populations in Tanzania. You will have the opportunity to observe elephant families interacting, feeding, and moving across the plains in their natural habitat.

The park’s landscapes range from open savannah to riverine areas centered around the Tarangire River, which attracts wildlife throughout the year. During your game drive, you may also encounter lions, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and other animals gathering near the water.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a designated viewpoint inside the park, where you can relax while watching animals come to drink at the river. After lunch, you will continue with further game viewing before heading to your lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

On the final day of your safari, you will begin with an early breakfast before departing at around 6:30 AM with your guide from Adhama Adventures for a descent into Ngorongoro Crater. This early start offers the best chance to witness wildlife activity during the cooler morning hours.

The crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, with a vast floor covering approximately 260 square kilometers and steep walls rising around it. During your game drive, you will explore this unique ecosystem, which supports a high concentration of wildlife in a relatively small area.

Over the course of about five hours, you may encounter elephants, buffalo, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, and with some luck, the endangered black rhinoceros. The variety and density of animals make this one of the most rewarding safari experiences, so having your camera ready is highly recommended.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed near a scenic hippo pool within Ngorongoro Crater. After lunch, you will begin the steep ascent back to the crater rim and continue your journey to Karatu for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay, concluding your safari adventure.

Today offers a unique and memorable cultural experience near Lake Eyasi. You will wake up early before sunrise and depart with your guide from Adhama Adventures to meet the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining nomadic hunter-gatherer communities in Africa.

After a brief introduction to their traditions and way of life, you will join them in their morning activities. This experience provides a rare opportunity to observe and understand their daily routines in a natural and authentic setting.

You may choose to accompany the men as they go hunting using traditional methods such as bows and arrows, or spend time with the women as they gather fruits, roots, and other natural resources from the surrounding environment. These activities offer valuable insight into a lifestyle that has remained largely unchanged for generations.

The experience is immersive and far from typical tourist routes, offering exceptional opportunities for photography and cultural learning. It is often considered one of the most meaningful highlights of a safari in northern Tanzania.
