On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your driver and transferred to Meru View Lodge, set in the peaceful surroundings of Usa River, just outside Arusha. The short drive offers your first glimpse of northern Tanzania’s landscapes, with views of open countryside and, on clear days, nearby mountains.

Once at the lodge, you can take time to settle in and unwind after your journey. You may choose to relax in the gardens, enjoy the calm atmosphere, or arrange a short visit into Arusha to experience local life and markets.

Later in the day, your guide will meet you for a full pre-trek briefing. This session covers the route, daily schedule, packing tips, and important advice to help you prepare for the climb ahead. It’s also a good opportunity to ask questions and ensure everything is ready for the adventure.

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel and driven to the entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park, where your guide completes the necessary formalities while the mountain crew prepares the equipment for the trek. Once everything is ready, your climb on Mount Kilimanjaro begins.

The trail quickly leads you into a dense and vibrant rainforest, filled with towering trees, thick undergrowth, and hanging mosses. This lush environment is rich in life, and with some luck, you may spot black-and-white colobus monkeys moving through the canopy.

After a steady hike of about 5–6 hours, you will reach Machame Camp, located just above the forest zone. Here, you will enjoy your first evening on the mountain, with a freshly prepared meal and an overnight stay in tents at the base of Kilimanjaro.

After an early start, the trail becomes steeper as you continue your ascent on Mount Kilimanjaro. The landscape gradually shifts from dense forest to open heath and moorland, revealing wide views of the surrounding mountain terrain.

Today’s hike is shorter, allowing for a steady pace as you gain altitude. By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at Shira Camp, set on the high plateau. From here, you will enjoy clear views of Kibo, especially as the evening light reflects off its rock face and glaciers.

Dinner and overnight at Shira Camp.

Today is an important acclimatization day on Mount Kilimanjaro. Although you will climb around 800 metres, you will sleep at a similar elevation to the previous night, helping your body adjust to the altitude.

The trek begins with a steady ascent across the Shira Plateau, heading toward the striking Lava Tower. As you gain height, the landscape becomes more open and dry, transitioning into an alpine desert.

The route then descends into the scenic Barranco Valley, known for its unique vegetation, including giant lobelias and senecio plants. After 6–7 hours of trekking, you will reach Barranco Camp, often considered one of the most beautiful camps on the mountain.

Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp.

Today begins with the climb of the Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. Your guides will support you where needed, ensuring a safe and steady ascent.

After reaching the top, the trail follows a ridge with some ups and downs, offering impressive views of Kibo and its southern glaciers. You will stop for lunch in the Karanga Valley before continuing with a 2–3 hour climb to Barafu Camp. Upon arrival at camp, you can rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for an early night ahead of the summit attempt.

After a cup of hot tea and a light snack, your summit attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro begins around midnight. Guided by headlamps, you will slowly ascend the steep slopes of Kibo, following a steady pace in the quiet darkness.

After 5–7 hours of climbing, you will reach Stella Point (5730m) at the crater rim. From here, a final 1–2 hour walk along the ridge brings you to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. As the sun rises, you will enjoy wide views across the landscape below—an unforgettable moment at the top.

After celebrating at the summit, you will descend along the same route back to Barafu Camp, where a warm meal and short rest await. Later, you will continue down to Mweka Camp, where dinner and a well-earned rest conclude this challenging day.

The final stage of your adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro begins after breakfast with a traditional farewell from your mountain crew.

You will then continue with a gentle 2–3 hour descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where your driver will be waiting. From here, you will be transferred back to Meru View Lodge.

After a hot shower, the rest of the day is yours to relax whether by the pool or simply enjoying the moment and celebrating your achievement.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.

Alternatively, you can extend your stay in Tanzania with a safari experience or unwind along the beautiful beaches of the Indian Ocean.
